We are happy to announce that the TechnoGirl program will be returning this year! Starting on June 30, 2023, we are excited to welcome Hlyisani Ngobeni and Tshepiso Motloung from South Africa for their 10-week internship at CM.com.
TechnoGirl, an initiative of TechnoGirl Trust in collaboration with Unicef, is an innovative program designed for young women who have a keen interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Our primary objective with the TechnoGirl program is to address the existing disparities in opportunities between men and women.
The core objective of Techno Girls is to equip girls, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to thrive in the digital age. By providing mentorship, training, and access to technology, the program helps girls develop a solid foundation in coding, programming, robotics, and other technical fields. This enables them to explore their potential, break down societal barriers, and pursue successful careers in traditionally male-dominated industries.
The impact of TechnoGirl extends far beyond individual empowerment. By equipping girls with technical skills and fostering their interest in technology, the initiative contributes to closing the gender gap in STEM industries. This, in turn, drives innovation, economic growth, and social progress in communities and countries worldwide. TechnoGirl envisions a future where girls and women are empowered to lead, create, and shape the digital landscape, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.
The program is premised on the understanding that exposure to the public and private sector workplaces can significantly contribute towards motivating girls to take up STEM careers that are in demand and where women are under-represented.
We collaborate with corporates to empower girls for STEM careers, sharing the transformation burden. By equipping them with skills, we create sustainable employment opportunities and break the cycle of poverty.
