What is a merge tag?
Let's start off with the basic of a merge tag, because, what is it? Merge tags are also known as personalization fields or personalization tags. It allows you to insert data from your mail list directly into your campaign This can be of added value when you want to personalize your campaign.
How to use merge tags?
When creating your message in the Campaigns app there are multiple options to add in the tab below the text editor:
If you want to personalize your Campaign by adding, for example, the first name of the recipient you can click on the { } icon in the tab. A new choice-menu will open and you can add the FirstName merge tag.
That will result in this:
The amount of options in the choice menu of the merge tags depends on the amount of Profile Properties in your Customer Data Platform, or the columns uploaded in your Address Book. Because of that you can personalize your Campaign even more!
When you want to test the result of your merge tags you can add the final Address Book that you want to send the campaign to and send a test campaign to your phone number. Campaigns will randomly pick information from your Address Book and send it as a test to your phone number.
