Link Events and Articles to Dialogs
The "Link article" feature makes it possible to use an article or event output (and all of its contextual answers) in your dialog end nodes. This feature provides an easy way to keep the answers between your articles, events and dialogs aligned. This is particularly useful for larger dialogs, or dialog nodes which share the same answers that are contained in your regular articles.
This feature is located in the dialogs screen. When you open an end node to edit the answer, you’ll find the "Link article" feature above the container of the answer editor.
Note: The link article feature is not available for dialog start nodes.
When you click the "Link article" button, a notification will pop up.
Selecting ‘No’ will return you to the editor.
Selecting ‘Yes’ will remove the answer from the dialog node and open up a search screen.
The search screen works similar to the search in the articles screen except for two scenarios:
- Articles in a pending delete state are filtered out and not shown in the search results
- Articles pending approval and don't have a previously approved state are filtered out and not shown in the search results
Use the search and filter on question or answers to find the article that you want to reuse the answers for in this dialog node.
Click the ‘link’ icon located at the top of the article that you want to use in your dialog node:
Once you’ve selected this, your dialog node will show that the answer is using a linked article. If needed, you can select the more options menu under the id to edit the linked article:
In the dialog canvas, quickly identify nodes within your dialog that use a linked article by the ‘link’ symbol in the node:
Unlink Article From a Dialog Node
Once your dialog node uses a linked article, the unlink article option will become available above the container of the answer editor:
If you decide that you want to use a different answer on this dialog node, you can click this option.
A "Remove Linked article" pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the removal:
Once you have removed the linked article, you can edit your dialog answer as usual, or use the "Link article" option again to search for a different article to use.
Articles Linked with Dialog Nodes
To see which dialogs are referencing an article, select the "Dialog References" tab above your inputs.
It's possible for an article set to link to multiple dialogs.
In this example, we only see one linked dialog:
If you update an answer in this article, the changes will also show on the linked dialog. If you do not want this, click on the more options menu next to the linked dialog and select "Open dialog". This will redirect you to the node using the linked article. Select the "Unlink article" button. Then, you can edit the dialog answers as you normally would.
