When targetting people for marketing purposes, it is very important to take the consent into account. Therefore it is important to manage your consent before sending out emails.
When only using Email Campaigns/Address Book (not the Customer Data Platform), the unsubscribers will be managed in the Suppression list which can be found within the Email Campaigns application:
What is the suppression list and how do people get on there?
The suppression list is a list of recipients that can not or do not want to receive the emails sent from your domain. Below some reasons why they could be on the suppresion list:
- Have complained by marking an email sent by to as spam
- An email sent to their address has a hard bounce (e.g. email address is invalid or no longer exists)
- They have unsubscribed from your emails by clicking on the default unsubscribed button in the Email Template
If you want to include the unsubscribe button in an existing email you can add this link by clicking on 'insert page or special link';
Are the people from the suppression list automatically removed from the recipients of my email campaign?
When you send out an email, it is automatically checked whether the recipients are on the suppression list. All contacts on the suppression list are automatically removed from your campaign.
Therefore the amount of recipients are deducted by the people on the suppression list, this amount can be seen within the campaign that is sent:
In the following example the campaign was originally sent to 20,545 recipients, however due to 973 of these recipients being on the suppression list the acutal number of recipients was 19,572.
Can I manually add someone from the Suppression list?
If a consumer has complained about receiving emails, you could also manually add someone to the supression list by clicking the blue + button:
Enter the mailaddress and click add:
Can I remove someone from the Suppression list?
