Absa Cape Epic launches virtual race office via WhatsApp Chatbot

CM.com is pleased to announce the partnership with Absa Cape Epic as the official Conversational Commerce Partner and headline sponsor of the women’s category.

This strategic partnership will not only elevate riders’ overall experience as what is regarded to be the biggest mountain bike stage race in the world, but also signals a dedication to pushing technology boundaries in an impactful manner that benefits riders and fans.

“Blending innovation and technology to create world-class rider experiences is a key focal point for the Absa Cape Epic and the Epic Series,” said Absa Cape Epic Founder, Kevin Vermaak.

“We have always offered riders the best experience when they are at our events, and having CM.com creating a virtual race office, in addition to our Digital Event Guide, are just two ways we are working towards delivering another world-class event in 2022,” he said.

For the first time, Absa Cape Epic riders will be able to interact with the Absa Cape Epic virtual race office via a WhatsApp Business chatbot and live chat service, using just their mobile phone. Riders will be able to access important information like stage start times, route maps, important updates, and much more, all without having to leave the comfort of their tent.

As a global leader in cloud software for conversational commerce that offers solutions for ways of connecting people, CM.com firmly believes that technology should exist to enhance people's lives and benefit society.

It is this dedication to connecting people from around the world as part of an integrated community – and constantly searching for innovative ways to achieve this – that has driven them to align with the Absa Cape Epic team.

"The globally recognised Absa Cape Epic is a testament to what humans can achieve through perseverance and hard work,” said James Bayhack, Director Sub Saharan Africa at CM.com. “We quickly noticed that both our organisations share a passion for pushing boundaries and creating amazing experiences, and we believe that our partnership with the Absa Cape Epic will allow us to enhance the rider and spectator journey through the enablement of our cloud software solutions,” he concluded.

"As the headline sponsor behind the Absa Cape Epic women’s category, we’re excited about setting new standards in women’s mountain biking, and inspiring more young women to take up the sport,” said Lisa Lottering, Senior Digital Marketing Manager, Sub Saharan Africa at CM.com.

The 2022 Absa Cape Epic is set to take place between 20 and 27 March.
